Heaven Waits For Me

I heard this song - "Heaven Waits For Me" - on the way to work this morning.  It is sung by Jenny Simmons, and it really spoke to me. I could NOT stop smiling after I heard it! Its truth was just so powerful, and I found myself saying Amen, Amen, and Amen all the way to my job.

It was a moment.  A count your many blessings, Jamie, kinda moment.

Read the lyrics.  Listen to the song.  Be blessed!

Today's forget-me-not: Heaven waits for me, and I for it!

My feet are deep down in the sand
The waves are pouring life into my soul
It's clear to me from where I stand
There's nothing else I want in this old world

I'm not afraid of letting go
If today's my last day, you should know

That I've loved so many people
And I've traveled this great world
Yeah I've spent time with Jesus
And I've held my little girl
I'm not holding back for next year
I'm living for today
When I take my final breath
I know I'm ready
Heaven waits for me

My husband is the strongest man
All our family and our friends make me smile
Yeah I've had my share of broken dreams
Sleepless nights and suffering
But all the while
That don't matter in the end
Cause I've loved so many people
And I've traveled this great world
Yeah I've spent time with Jesus
And I've held my little girl
I'm not holding back for next year
I'm living for today
When I take my final breath
I know I'm ready
Heaven waits for me
Yeah, Heaven waits for me

Maybe I'll go quietly
In my sleep with you next to me
Maybe it's a slow goodbye
Or I'm out of here in the blink of an eye
No matter how I leave this place
I know I'll see my Savior's face
With the ones I love right next to me
It's a beautiful thing,
Oh, life's a beautiful thing

Cause I've loved so many people
And I've traveled this great world
I've spent some time with Jesus
And I've held my little girl
I'm not holding back for next year
I'm living for today
When I take my final breath
I'm not leaving with regrets
I know I'm ready
Heaven waits for me
Oh yeah, Heaven waits for me

My First Race of 2013

ANNUAL RUN FOR THE CHILDREN 5K and FUN RUN

The morning started and ended like this...

I was very unsure about doing this race. I hate running in the rain!

Or so I thought...

It actually wasn't that bad!  It was kinda fun, but I was sure my time would suck.  I mean, here I am running in my first race since October? In the rain?  This is going to go down as one of my worst times for a 5K, for sure. However...

I ran it in 34:30! That is actually MY BEST TIME SO FAR FOR A 5K!

(cue happy dance)

I even finished 6 out of 10 in my age group!  I wasn't last!!!

(I'll save you from another happy dance.)

The one thing that did suck about the race was the situation with the shirts.  When I got there, they only had larges.  Yes, I had pre-registered, so yes, they should have had a shirt for me.  They screwed up.  You just DON'T screw up on a runner's t-shirt. LOL  ;-)  Anyway, they gave me that large and a small from last year, so I ended up with two shirts.  It was for a good cause, and my running time was great, so I'll forgive them. :-)

So far, a great start to the running season!  Aside from this cough I now have from running in the rain and 40 degree weather, I have a great sense of accomplishment.  And sorry for sounding like a credit card commercial but... that is priceless!

Today's forget-me-not: Don't back down from a challenge - run with it!  (pun intended)

Race Plans for 2013 - The beginning...

I am getting excited!  My first 5K of 2013 is this Saturday!!!

It is the ANNUAL RUN FOR THE CHILDREN 5K and FUN RUN in my hometown. My only goal for this is to finish strong - which for me means to run it all (no walking) and be around my best time for a 5K which is 35 minutes.  I can't wait!!!

The next run on the books is one my hubby and I are doing together: The Color Run - Atlanta. This looks like a lot of fun!  A few of my students encouraged me to do this with them. I'm not psyched about getting "color" thrown all over me, but I'm up for new things. :-)

Lastly, hubby and I have just thrown ourselves into the Peachtree Roadrace lottery.  If chosen - I'll know Monday - this will be my first 10K, and I'll start training for that during spring break in April.

Man! I'm so excited!!!  Did I say that already? hehe

Today's forget-me-not: To experience life fully, challenge yourself! And have fun doing it!!!

my other child

Today, a girlfriend and I got together to scrapbook.  I LOVE to scrapbook!  However, the only way any scrapbooking gets done by me is if a friend invites me over to do it.  I have to literally schedule scrapbooking, or it doesn't happen.  Much like most things in my life... but that's for another post ;-)

Anyway, I'm making a family scrapbook with pages dedicated to forget-me-not moments.  I have a page for Beth and a page for Hannah commemorating their births.  Then I realized, I don't have a page for my other child - my Angel!

I have THREE not TWO children.

So, I made it a priority to complete a page for Angel.  Here is the result:

Today's forget-me-not: is you, Angel. I'll never forget YOU.

Resolutions Review - March

In 2013...

1. Grow Spiritually
2. Stay Healthy
3. Live, Love, and Laugh Often

1. My Wednesday night bible study is still going strong, and it's great!  I'm really bad about doing the "homework" involved with it on a regular basis and/or before I get to the class.  Gonna try to get better at that this month.  I'm easily distracted by Netflix and Hulu though - specifically, Downton Abbey right now. LOL

I have found out that Beth Moore is going to have one of her Living Proof conferences in the area on May 31 and June 1st.  I just put a cry out on facebook to see if anyone would be interested in tagging along to this with me.  I'm gonna go either way though! I need some conferences in my life this year to keep me spiritually focused - cause I go out of focus so frequently.

2. I ran two 5Ks last week during our winter break.  They weren't official races; I just went to the local park.  The weather was nice enough, and it felt good to run outside.

I will be running a race (5K) at the end of this month.  It will be my first for the year - the kick off of my race season. I can't wait!

Anyway, I'm going to get back to logging my food on myfitnesspal. I had a few pounds creep back on that I need to chase back off ;-)

3. I'm looking forward to getting new family pictures made - hopefully some time this month.  Also, Michael and I are going to prom.  hehe  Actually, I have to chaperon the high school prom, so I'm gonna drag him with me.  It's fun watching the kids all dressed up - and getting cleaned up ourselves
 ;-)

Today, we went and had hibachi.  It was GREAT.  Beth loves trying to eat with chopsticks, and Hannah ate EVERYTHING she was served.  I especially love it when they throw the eggs up into their hats or make the fire onion.  Hannah freaked out over the fire just a bit, but then, she loved it too!

Today's forget-me-not: Spoil yourselves every once and awhile!  Go eat hibachi!
